Level 1: Core Concepts (Aiming for a Pass / 'S' to 'C')

These prompts check your memory of the fundamental facts and definitions.

  1. Define: What does HTML stand for?

  2. List: What are the four essential tags that form the basic structure of every HTML page? (<html>, <head>, <title>, <body>)

  3. Identify: Which tag is used to insert an image into a webpage?

  4. Recall: Which tag creates a hyperlink to another page?

  5. Identify: To create a numbered list, should you use <ol> or <ul>?

  6. Define: What is a 'static' website?

  7. Recall: What tag is used to create a table row?

Level 2: Application & Explanation (Aiming for 'C' to 'B')

These prompts ask you to explain concepts and apply them to simple scenarios.

  1. Explain: What is the difference between a static website and a dynamic website? Give a real-world example of a dynamic website.

  2. Apply: Write the complete HTML code to display the text "My School" in bold and as a level 2 heading (<h2>).

  3. Describe: What is a Content Management System (CMS) like Joomla, and what is its main advantage for users with no coding knowledge?

  4. Explain: What is the purpose of the alt attribute within an <img> tag?

  5. Write the Code: Write the full HTML for a simple 2x2 table. You can leave the cells empty.

Level 3: Analysis & Design (Aiming for 'B' to 'A')

These prompts challenge you to design solutions and analyze problems, just like the high-mark questions on the exam.

  1. Design: You need to create a simple webpage for your school's ICT club. It must have:

  • A main heading: "ICT Club"

  • An image: logo.jpg

  • A short paragraph of text.

  • A hyperlink that says "Click here for more" and links to events.html. Write the complete and correct HTML code for this webpage.

  1. Analysis: The principal of your school wants a website that can be updated daily with news and announcements by teachers who have no knowledge of HTML. Would you recommend building a static website using HTML files or using a Content Management System (CMS)? Justify your answer.

  2. Problem-Solving: A website you are visiting is loading very slowly. The page contains many large, high-quality photographs. Explain why these photos are likely causing the slow loading speed and suggest two things the web designer could have done to the images to solve this problem before publishing the site.
