This unit is about being a responsible citizen. It covers topics like good manners, preventing vandalism, following rules, and performing good deeds.

Grammar Focuses
Punctuation (Very Important!): This unit revises all key punctuation marks.
Full Stop (

Modals of Obligation and Advice:
must/must not: For strong obligation or rules (e.g., "You must wear a helmet.").should/should not: For giving advice (e.g., "You should help others.").ought to: Similar to 'should', for moral duty.
All Past Tenses (Revision): This unit expects you to be comfortable with all four past tense forms to narrate events.
Important Points for the O/L Exam
Paper I (Writing):
Essay: Be prepared for a topic like "My Responsibilities as a Student" or "How We Can Protect Public Property."
Notice/Letter: You might be asked to write a notice about a community project (like a Shramadana).
Paper II (Grammar & Reading):
Punctuation questions are very common. You may be asked to rewrite a paragraph with the correct punctuation.
Fill-in-the-blanks questions often test your knowledge of past tense verbs and modals.
Study Tips & Tricks
Practice Punctuation: Find a short paragraph in a newspaper and write it down. Then, compare your version with the original, checking every comma and full stop.
Active Revision: Look at the picture story in the workbook (Activity 8). Write your own story for it using the Simple Past and Past Continuous tenses.
Modal Sentences: Write five rules for the school library using
must,must not, andshould. This will help you remember their use.
