Key Vocabulary to Master

• Time: punctuality, leisure, timetable, schedule, appointment, deadline, duration.

Grammar Focuses

1. Word Formation (Suffixes): Changing the word class by adding suffixes. This is a very important skill for vocabulary questions.

• Noun to Verb: acceptance → accept

• Adjective to Adverb: slow → slowly

• Verb to Noun: appear → appearance

1. Idioms: Understanding figurative expressions related to time.

• Example: "The early bird catches the worm" (acting early brings success).

Important Points for the O/L Exam

• Paper I (Writing):

  • Essay: You could be asked to write on "How I Manage My Time" or "The Importance of Punctuality."

  • Email/Letter: Writing a formal email or letter to apply for a job or inquire about a course is a possible task.

• Paper II (Grammar & Reading):

  • Data Interpretation: The pie chart in this unit is excellent practice for the chart/graph description question.

  • Vocabulary: Questions that test your ability to change a word's form (e.g., from beauty to beautiful) are common.

Study Tips & Tricks

• Create a Personal Timetable: Draw a weekly timetable for yourself, planning your study time, leisure, and other activities. This is practical application.

• Word Class Table: Use the table in the Pupil's Book (Activity 11) as a model. Take five new words (e.g., organize, success, create, happy, quick) and try to fill in the noun, verb, adjective, and adverb forms for each.

• Analyze an Ad: Find a real job advertisement in a newspaper. Identify the post, qualifications required, and how to apply. This is great real-world practice.
