Introduction: This is a practical, skill-based lesson. Marks are given for accuracy and for leaving your construction arcs visible. Use a sharp pencil, a good compass, and a straightedge. Practice each construction until you can do it quickly and neatly.


The "S Pass" Foundation (නියත S එකකට)

  • Prompt 1 (Task): Construct a line segment of length 6 cm and construct its perpendicular bisector.

  • Prompt 2 (Task): Construct an angle of 90° and then construct its angle bisector.

  • Prompt 3 (Task): Construct the triangle ABC where AB = 7 cm, BC = 5 cm, and AC = 6 cm.

  • Prompt 4 (Task): Construct a line parallel to a given line segment AB, passing through an external point P.

  • Prompt 5 (Task): Construct a perpendicular to a line segment from an external point.


Climbing to a "C" (C එකට පාර)

  • Prompt 1 (Task): Construct triangle PQR with PQ = 8 cm, PQ^​R=60∘, and QR = 7 cm.

  • Prompt 2 (Task): Construct the circumcircle of the triangle from the previous prompt. Measure and write down its radius.

  • Prompt 3 (Task): Construct triangle LMN with LM = 6 cm, MN = 7.5 cm, and LN = 5 cm.

  • Prompt 4 (Task): Construct the incircle of the triangle from the previous prompt.

  • Prompt 5 (Task): Construct a circle of radius 4 cm and mark a point P on it. Construct the tangent to the circle at point P.


Aiming for a "B" (B ඉලක්කය)

  • Prompt 1 (Task): Construct a circle of radius 3.5 cm with centre O. Mark a point P, 8 cm away from O. Construct the two tangents from P to the circle.

  • Prompt 2 (Task): Construct a rhombus ABCD with side length 6 cm and angle DA^B=60∘.

  • Prompt 3 (Task): Construct a triangle PQR where PQ = 7 cm, PR = 8 cm, and the median from P to QR is 6 cm long.

  • Prompt 4 (Task): Construct a rectangle equal in area to a given square of side 5 cm.

  • Prompt 5 (Locus): Construct the locus of a point equidistant from two fixed points A and B, which are 6 cm apart.


Securing the "A" Distinction (A සාමාර්ථය තහවුරු කරගන්න)

  • Prompt 1 (Task): Construct a triangle equal in area to a given quadrilateral ABCD.

  • Prompt 2 (Task): Construct a square equal in area to a given triangle ABC with sides 5 cm, 6 cm, 7 cm.

  • Prompt 3 (Task): Construct a direct common tangent to two circles with radii 4 cm and 2 cm, whose centres are 8 cm apart.

  • Prompt 4 (Locus Problem): Construct the locus of a point P which moves so that its distance from a fixed point O is always twice its distance from another fixed point A.

  • Prompt 5 (Challenge): Construct triangle ABC given the length of the base BC = 8 cm, the altitude from A = 5 cm, and the median from A = 6 cm.
